THURSDAY EVENINGS
San José del Cabo Art Walk
Every Thursday evening, the galleries of picturesque old San José del Cabo stay open late as the streets come alive with music, color, and Baja's most vibrant cultural tradition. Wander cobblestone lanes, pop into world-class galleries, and settle in at one of the excellent restaurants nearby.
Agathe's picks for Art Walk night: La Lupita and Código for Mexican cuisine, and Durum for Mediterranean. For sushi lovers, Omekai Sushi is excellent, as is the fresh and flavorful Noa Mediterranean.

WORLD-CLASS ADVENTURES AWAIT
Outdoor Recreation
Baja California Sur offers an incredible array of sports and outdoor activities to keep everyone happy. We invite you to enjoy these Casa Kura Kura guest favorites:
Golfing
Los Cabos is a golfer's paradise, with over a dozen world-class courses within a 15–60 minute drive. Stunning desert-meets-ocean landscapes and near-perfect year-round temperatures make every round memorable. The closest option is Puerto Los Cabos, a beautiful 27-hole course just minutes away.
Surfing
The East Cape delivers world-class waves in every direction. Shipwreck is 10 minutes away, La Fortuna 15, and Nine Palms 20. Head further west to hit the legendary breaks at Zippers, The Rock, and Monuments near San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. La Fortuna Surf Shop — right on the East Cape — offers rentals and lessons.
Fishing
The Sea of Cortez is one of the most celebrated sportfishing destinations on earth. Inshore, local panga boats put you on roosterfish and snapper within minutes of the house. Head to Cabo San Lucas for deep-sea charters targeting marlin, dorado, and yellowfin tuna — the underwater canyon off Land's End draws billfish practically to the shore. Ask Agathe to help arrange a charter.
Horseback Riding
Explore the wild beauty of the East Cape on horseback. Guided rides wind through desert terrain, along dramatic coastline, and into the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Several local outfitters offer rides for all experience levels — ask Agathe for her current recommendations.
Sailing
The Sea of Cortez is considered one of the world's great sailing destinations, with calm protected waters, stunning anchorages, and abundant marine life along the way. Half-day sunset sails, full-day excursions, and multi-day charters are all available out of Los Cabos and La Paz — one of Baja's premier sailing hubs.
Hiking
From coastal trails with Sea of Cortez views to the lush canyons of the Sierra de la Laguna, the hiking here ranges from easy morning walks to full-day adventures. Don't miss the natural hot springs near the town of Santiago — a beautiful hike through palm-lined canyons to warm pools tucked into the mountains.
Kitesurfing & Windsurfing
La Ventana, a small bay 90 minutes north near La Paz, is one of the world's most celebrated destinations for both kite and wind sports. The powerful El Norte winds roll through reliably from November through March, drawing riders from around the globe. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-timer, the village has everything you need — rentals, lessons, and instructors right on the beach.
Whalewatching
From December through April, humpback and blue whales migrate through the Sea of Cortez, often visible right from the shoreline near Casa Kura Kura. Guided boat tours depart from Los Cabos and La Paz throughout the season.
La Paz is also one of the only places in the world where you can swim alongside whale sharks. These gentle giants gather in the bay between October and May. A day trip to La Paz for a snorkeling excursion with them is truly unforgettable.
“Baja is beautiful and perfect vacation for anyone who loves the outdoors. Our family of five soaked up the sun every day going to the beaches, hiking, and fishing. So many memories were made here. We already booked our next visit to Casa Kura Kura!”
